The markhor, dubbed the Capra falconeri, is Pakistan’s national animal. Known locally as the screw-horned goat, these animals weigh up to 110 kgs and have the highest shoulder height in goat species. Explicitly adapted to mountainous terrain, they inhabit the scrub forests of Northern Pakistan.
Deserving of the Grand Slam
The upland wild sheep, scientifically denoted as the Ovis vignei, are spread across South Asia. The animal has adapted to the harshest environments, from sand to snow.
Prized yet thriving
The wild mountain goats of the genus Capra are recognized by the male’s large, recurved horns. These large and heavy animals are found in Pakistan’s North and Southernmost fringes. They are shy and reclusive and a true challenge for any hunter.
